About the creator
Iva Verba is a Ukrainian oboe/English horn player, based in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from special music school by Stolyarsky and performed with the Odesa Regional Philharmonic orchestra as soloist while in Ukraine. She is currently a Montclair State University student, where she studies under the guidance of Toyin Spellman-Diaz.Additionally, Iva has worked with distinguished teachers Ryan Roberts, Tamara Winston and Elaine Douvas.
Since moving to New York, Iva has been playing with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony, New Conductor Orchestra, Broadway Bach Orchestra and Association of Classical Musicians and Artists. Additionally, Iva contributed to the Brooklyn College Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Brooklyn College Musical Theater Collective and Montclair State University Orchestra and Wind Symphony, as well as various chamber ensembles and festivals such as Kinhaven and New England Music Camp.
Iva has earned numerous prizes and first-place awards in national and international competitions such as second prize at the National Povzun, Young Artist Foundation and winning prize for “Nouvelle Etoiles” competitions.
Iva is an active freelance oboist in the NYC area and beyond. In February 2026 she went on tour as principal oboist with Odesa Symphonic Orchestra across US and Canada. When she is not playing oboe and making reeds, Iva can be found playing video games or reading books.
